WDBO 580 AM: News Station My Ass

It’s no secret local WDBO, that purports itself to be a news station (and it used to be), is about as unbiased as a Teabagger at a clan Glenn Beck rally. But a recent piece they did about welfare recipients withdrawing cash from casinos, painting it like it’s a multi-million dollar problem and casting the poor of our society as engaging in a widespread culture of fraud, didn’t pass the elementary school math test.

Reporters Fail At Reporting

Oh my god, sushi will poison us all with mercury!

oh wait… no, Marian Burros just sucks at reporting.

Took me exactly 0.06 seconds to generate 97 Google News results for “tuna mercury” which contained both sides of the story and gave me a more complete and balanced understanding of the story. It probably took Burros the better half of the winter to piece together that lopsided alarmist falsehood-fiesta.

Fairness Doctrine

Been hearing this idea thrown around a lot lately, bringing back the Fairness Doctrine which would mean equal time for conservatives and liberals alike on talk radio. Despite this being a complete disregard for the free market and overstepping of government authority, this just won’t work logistically.
