Apparently Cameron Diaz mistakenly thought that people everywhere think Communism is chic like I'm assuming she does. I just love reading stories like this where self appointed world saviors/entertainers blatantly display just how totally ignorant they are of historical perspective and politics they truly are. It is astonishing to me that she would ever think carrying around a communist bag complete with slogans would not make some people a little upset. I fully support your right to believe in what you want and promote whatever ideologies you feel you need, but seriously Diaz, if you choose to exercise that right on something like Communist China, uh, maybe you should understand the implications first. Communism and Socialism has been the culprit behind pretty much every horrific disaster of human suffering in the modern age. Is that what you represent, that's what you support? I sure hope not.
This reminds me of when I see people walking around with Che Guevara merchandise. All hypocritical aspects aside (I mean, is commercialism of his image really honoring the dude?), if you bother to study history past a screening of The Motorcycle Diaries, you would find that that hat or t-shirt you're so cooly sporting is promoting someone who brutally killed a LOT of people. Again, if you think that's something you want to support, freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but don't be surprised if people think you are a colossal asshole. That's their freedom too.Labels: communism, fashion, hollywood
