Monster Pig

So there is this weird story going on right now about this giant pig and whether or not it’s a hoax, photoshop trick, or if it’s valid to claim it was “hunted” because it may have been sold from a breeder to one of these stocked hunting grounds or something. Seems like a lot of stupid contreversy over a big pig. But some questions stick in my mind: Why does the father own monsterpig.com, when did he register it and why is the registration information which would answer these questions kept private by paying the extra privacy charge to Go Daddy?

Here are the answers to your questions in your blog.
The father owns monsterpig.com because it was purchased by him to share the pictures and story with friends. It did not become a media frenzy until almost 4 weeks later at which time there were a lot of requests for pictures, that is when the poster idea was born.

The website was bought on May 5th, 2 days after the hunt. There was a lot of interest on Friday after friends started talking about the hunt so the website was bought and put up for people to go look at.

Lastly, the privacy of the purchaser was just for the reason it was intended, privacy. No other motive than not wanting the information available, anyone can see your name, address, phone number & e-mail. Since the site was started for friends & family, there was no need to make personal information public.

Thanks for the clarity! You’ll have to excuse my suspicious mind when it comes to domain names. Congrats on catching an incredibly enormous pig! How was that BBQ? The sheer volume of tasty pulled pork and country style ribs must have been glorious!
