When the headline from Google Blog came across my reader: Now Anyone can Talk, I immediately thought, finally, they patched AIM into the Google Talk application like they promised last year. But nope, they were just announcing that you didn't have to get a Google account in order to sign up and use the Google Talk application. This moves seems like a reaction to what probably is the lackluster movement of people towards this application. This makes me scratch my head because the slow adoption rate is obviously because nearly everyone is already vested into using AIM and they have no incentive to switch. I thought Google understood this clearly and was part of the motivation behind the AOL alliance. I guess not, but Google, seriously guys, stop being stupid and just hook Talk into AIM and be done with it.
